The Butterfly Effect

The site came with a problem: a prow-shaped ridge above the Snake River Valley with views so commanding that any wrong move would compete with them. The answer was restraint — two warm wood volumes connected by glass, anchored by an axial stone wall that organizes the home without imposing on the landscape. The details do the work. Smart-tint glass eliminates visual noise without sacrificing energy performance. A sunken fire pit and living roof embed the home into its surroundings. And a butterfly roof, designed to manage drainage, ends in a sculptural waterfall. Wolf Mountain views are present from nearly every room: framed, not interrupted.
