Life Moves Pretty Fast. The View
Does Not.
The site is steep, boulder-strewn, and sits directly on
Whitefish Lake — which means the approach had to
work as hard as the house. A bridge-like arrival
sequence connects the entry to the main residence,
establishing a sense of procession before the lake
comes into view. The Ferris Bueller garage, famously,
had the right idea. Inside, the home divides into two
living zones: one oriented toward the water, the other
elevated for long-range vistas across the lake. A
detached guest casita with oversized sliding glass
doors extends the living experience into the
landscape. The material palette — Venetian plaster,
select granite, designer tile, metal panel siding, and
switchable privacy glass — reads as refined
mid-century without being referential. Lakeside decks
and generous glazing keep the water present from
nearly every room.
