Great Northern

Set on a steep, boulder-strewn site along the shores of Whitefish Lake, this mid-century modern residence is carefully composed to engage both its dramatic terrain and expansive waterfront views. A bridge-like arrival sequence—evoking a modern interpretation of the iconic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off garage—connects the entry to the main house, establishing a sense of procession and architectural intrigue. The home is organized around dual living zones, with one oriented toward the lake and another elevated to capture long-range vistas, while a detached guest casita with large sliding glass doors extends the living experience outward. Expansive glazing and oversized slider systems open to generous lakeside decks, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor living while framing both panoramic water views and curated glimpses back to the native hillside landscape. Refined material selections—including Venetian plaster, select granite, designer tile, metal panel siding, and switchable privacy glass—elevate the home’s modern aesthetic while reinforcing a seamless connection between architecture, site, and light.
