Perched on a prow-shaped ridge above the Snake River Valley in Hoback Junction, Wyoming, this modern mountain retreat unfolds as a layered architectural composition that balances restraint with dramatic site response. Two warm wood volumes are connected by glass corridors and anchored by a strong axial stone wall, organizing public and private spaces while framing cinematic views toward Wolf Mountain. Expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing and sliding glass doors orient the home to the landscape, while smart-tint glass enhances energy performance and uninterrupted views. The architecture seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor living, with features like a sunken fire pit and a living roof that embed the home into its surroundings. Thoughtful detailing—from a butterfly roof that channels water into a sculptural waterfall to a carefully planned, accessible layout—creates a refined mountain-modern residence that is both highly functional and deeply connected to its environment.
